Bronx resident Ingrid Aquino was sentenced to an indeterminate term of two to six years in state prison for stealing over $700,000 from Hawthorne-based Hudson Valley Community Services, a division of Cornerstone Family Healthcare, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced on Monday, Jan. 29.

According to the DA's Office, between Nov. 1, 2017, and Sept. 1, 2021, Aquino, who served as the nonprofit's Director of Finance, wrote around 170 checks totaling $704,034 from the healthcare provider's bank accounts for personal expenses such as rent.

Following an investigation into this conduct, Aquino was eventually arrested by the DA's Office on May 2, 2022. She pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny on Thursday, March 23, 2023, officials said.

In addition to her sentence, Aquino was also ordered to pay $704,034.62 in restitution.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah condemned Aquino's actions, saying, "This defendant betrayed the trust of a non-profit that put her in charge of its finances and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars for her personal use."

"This prosecution and sentence demonstrate our commitment to holding this defendant accountable for years of deceit and jeopardizing an organization providing critical services to our community," Rocah continued.
